I love to drown out the noise with my inner dialogue.
How dare a still mind take away my home of chaos?
I long to hear the Lord's voice after sitting still,
But isn't it my voice that that I want to hear?
I like creating my own metanarratives and using music to wake the gates of a hurried mind,
Thinking of all the predictions and tribulations that I might soon find.
I like control. I like holding the sticks for my drums.
I like hearing myself host my own game.
Yet I find myself looking for answers and longing for a moment of still peace.
I wonder why that is. I wonder why things aren't working.
And then I remember, the off button is where I have found rest before.
When I still my soul before the Father and learn that he can make music with silence.
He both hears and speaks in the void and galaxies are formed.
He takes away the noise and somehow makes a mighty roar.
Maybe the answers I'm looking for are found in the sound of silence.
